About a year ago I received a brochure for Blue Cross Medical Insurance. It sat on my desk for a few days. One night while falling asleep I started to think about it. They had a plan which includes eyeglasses. As I needed glasses I thought I’d give them a call.

They were very helpful and honest—no hard sell here. Very professional, and was clear and concise in answering my questions. Now, you don’t see that much anymore.

A few days later I phoned and elected to get the Blue Cross Options Plus policy—coverage in many areas. I thank God I chose this plan. Now, I never did get around to getting glasses. Yet.

About a month ago, I started to suffer from severe abdominal pain. Initially I thought nothing of it. Three days later, I was screaming into my pillow. The pain was that great. It turns out I had a golf ball sized abscess on my colon. Major surgery to say the least!

I now have an ostomy bag for a couple of months. I may have it for life. I was lucky! For the next couple of months I will need medical supplies. It is nice to know that Blue Cross coverage takes care of around 70% of the costs.

My advice to anyone reading this is, don’t wait until you need it, as at that point it’s too late! Months ago I never thought I’d need it. Out of the blue, in a couple of days, I sure did.

One day soon, I’ll see about the glasses as well.
